Ummm I was working on my fin headcanons for a while but few things are really set, so I don't have anything finalized

Anyways, here is a list of what I have so far 💖

Personality and Interests

Fin has an interest in languages and especially in Latin. He is actually fluent in Latin and keeps up with it regularly

He can play the guitar and piano. He is better at the guitar tho

Fin collects free buckets. No you cannot have a bucket

When working out, Fin is someone who almost always prefers strength training to cardio. He’s there to LIFT and it shows in his muscles

Growing up, Fin was self-conscious about his brown eyes. He values them now

In general, Fin has struggled with some body issues in the past because he felt self-conscious or too different from others. But after growing up and maturing, Fin now really values his own individuality and likes standing out from the rest of the Nordics

Nevertheless, there can be a rare nagging voice telling him that he doesn’t look good and needs to blend in more with the group

Honestly, I think Fin has a weird relationship with his own identity?? Growing up he struggled to fit in and now as an adult he doesn’t want to fit in, but it’s also like he’s stuck between two different worlds and can never be truly satisfied

Fin is a surprisingly good dancer

At work, Fin is punctual, methodical, and professional. On the weekends, he is a gremlin and a menace

Fin has a tendency to speed while driving, especially when he’s mad. He has amassed a collection of tickets over the years

Fin claims that he is a good driver, but his tendency to speed says otherwise. Swe doesn’t like being in the car with him because of this reason: he is praying for his life before Fin crashes the car due to his overconfidence

Fin has intimacy and possibly commitment issues

He likes to claim that he is authentic and true to himself, but he is still one self-conscious guy. Honestly, part of me thinks he uses the “I’m authentic” spiel to make up for the fact that he absolutely is not. But that’s for another post

Honestly he sometimes struggles with his sense of masculinity

Fin is an overachiever and by extension a workaholic

He knows how to sail, fish, hunt, survive in the woods, and work with ropes. But out of all of these he’s the worst at sailing

Outdoors and Pets

Fin has a mökki that he likes to disappear to, especially during the summer months or when he is overwhelmed with work. It’s located by a lake and is luckily located near some berry and chanterelle patches

Speaking of patches, these are TOP SECRET!! He will never share their locations with anyone, and if he sees someone picking at his berry bush, he will sic his dog on you

His dog is a white Finnish lapphund and she is adorable and is not scary

Also most of Fin’s pics on his phone and social media are of his dog (understandable)

He takes really good care of her, buys her expensive kibble, and has lots of toys and training days for her. He also likes to take her on hikes

Fin has a big collection of Aku Ankka comics at his mökki

Health

Fin is allergic to perfumes

Also in the last few years he has become gluten-sensitive and has some vague gastrointestinal issues (probably IBS)

He likes to claim that he is tough and illness doesn't bother him, but he actually gets sick easily and regularly. He tries to hide it tho

Appearance

Fin is plump but muscular. He can be your pillow AND help you move in the same day <3

His wardrobe is pretty casual and he dresses for comfort. He has a ton of hoodies and sweatpants in his closet

Fin has a scar on his left shoulder that he got after WWII

Relationships

Fin has a bad habit of disappearing out of people’s lives when he is feeling mentally unwell. He doesn’t want to be a burden to others and bog them down with his own feelings so he self-isolates when he’s sad and can get upset when people don’t reach out to him

In general, Fin just has a bad habit of ghosting. He does this a lot

Fin and Nor like to get together for coffee, winter sports, and talk shit about Sweden (time honoured tradition)

Fin and Estonia send each other cat memes via social media. It’s their love language (me core)

If Fin’s not at his mökki by himself, he’s probably with Swe. The kids love to play with Fin’s dog and in the lake

Fin is good at making friends quickly and being on people’s good side, but it’s very hard for him to TRULY bond or connect with him. A lot of his connections seem superficial and he has trouble getting them to go deeper

He identifies as demisexual, but has struggled with his sexuality in the past, especially regarding his potential attraction to other men. In the past, the thought of him being in love with another man made him ashamed

Words, or language itself. It's a more generalized answer, if the riddle isn't aimed at my person specifically. Words or language is the foundation to everyone's character, as they vocalize expression, even non-verbal aspects, such as body language. The ego holds words and language dear, as they provide one with the tools to express their ego outwardly. They are the tongue's bayonet, as words can be used as weapons, and the mind's spear, as ultimately, it is the mind that first formulates the words in the language they shall be used in to cause harm. But, of course, if this riddle is directed at any other person than myself, its meaning changes entirely. In your case, for example, the answer would be fear. It is your foundation, you pride yourself on it, you utilize it verbally, and it is constantly on your mind to use as a weapon against others. Another example, hmm, the Batman. His entire shtick is justice, as he keeps shoving in everyone's faces. He feeds his ego with the lies that his actions are justified, uses justice as an excuse for all his actions, and has his mind consumed by those childish notions. Come to think of it, the answer could also be "lies". Hm.

🌊 - Can your OC swim? Are they comfortable in space? Or do they prefer to keep their feet on the ground?

Becca is a pretty confident swimmer, she’s no aquanaut but can get from point A to point B without much hassle!

She’s not had much experience in space just yet - although she is working to become fully space rated like the rest of the team :) - so she hasn’t quite got her space legs yet. The whole lack of gravity is very confusing.

Out of everything, she prefers the ground and the sky and everything in between those two. That’s where her favourite things are! Whilst technically not specialised, she has become the unofficial “climbing rescuer” thanks to her uniform’s design and her zero qualms with dangling upside down to pull frightened people from dangerous ledges.

🍂 - Does your OC have favourite clothes or outfits? What kind of aesthetics do they like?

Practical, Practical, Practical.

Becca grew up on a rural Welsh farm, and given her life outside of IR as a field scientist, practicality means more to her than fashion. Although fashion is nice, it’s more of a fun treat than an everyday necessity. Her favourite clothes? Some trusty hiking boots and whatever shirt she borrowed stole from Scott. It’s a very very light jacket!

As for aesthetics?

Whatever exposed stonework and beams falls under. That and “Forestcore”(?). Again, grew up on a small farm, so these would be very homely and comforting to her. It’s not that she doesn’t like a lot of 2060’s architecture - both are great! Tracy Island Villa is very appealing to her with all those skylights and stone walls 😅 not to mention those beams, brilliant hiding spot.

⛵️ - What would a fun day out look like to your OC? Where would they go? What would they do? Who would they bring with them?

Oooh, that’s actually a tricky one. A big part of Becca’s character is that she’s willing to try pretty much anything once (to quote TOS lol), so she’d likely be down to do whatever others are feeling. But if she’s in charge of activities, a standard fallback is a light hike followed with exploring whichever small town or city is nearby. Preferably with the dogs. That or a day at an activity centre.

Who would she bring? Whoever fancies coming! ^^

i had a lot of fun with it!! i've been following the game since it was first announced lmao so through the multiple delays and messy release to the dlc so i really wasn't sure what to expect (went in with a low bar tbh!!!) but loved the characters (johnny, judy, misty, songbird, and takemura are my faves), loved the city, and had lots of fun with gameplay!! def have some gripes, but overall enjoyed my almost 100 hours👍🏻

aahh thank you so much!! ❤️❤️ that's such a good question! i will say as much as i have to say about it (very incoherent i'm afraid) + then would be VERY curious to hear your thoughts on the matter as well

it makes sense to me that chas doesn't react to the mick thing straight away. well, he tries to deny/avoid it, appropriately enough. he internalises the stress of it to avoid making it joe's problem. not necessarily the right or smart thing to do, but i genuinely think he is trying to be kind & generous by trying to ignore it. when he finally brings it up, it's reluctant – apologetic, even. he only mentions it because he can't help it anymore. i think he dislikes being (or seeing himself as) the sort of person who always has to say what he's thinking. and he feels bad for bringing down the weekend.

so, focusing specifically on the confrontation scene, as it turns out i have a lot of feelings about that (i mean how could i not, it's such a good scene). it's serving an important purpose wrt chas's characterisation and, because it's a very well-written episode, it's all in service of making the final twist more painful

firstly: "i don't mind. it's just that we normally tell each other when we're flirting with someone, and we laugh about it." just to make sure you know it's not the texting someone else that bothers him, it's the possibility that joe could be keeping a secret from him. because oh how very OPEN and TRUTHFUL they usually are with each other! how they always tell each other everything!

secondly, when he finally works up the courage to confront joe about it, he is .... i want to say gentle about it. he's not angry, he doesn't even speak loud enough for joe to hear him. he's sad, vulnerable, apologetic & clearly ready to forgive; all he wants is the truth. he confesses his own kiss with another guy, even though he could easily have gotten away with not saying anything, which i think is particularly significant for once again underlining the value he's placing on honesty & openness. and he instantly accepts the explanation joe gives him with no evidence. } all of which to say:

essentially what we're seeing here is chas reaching a character development apex. literally in that confrontation scene i think we see the culmination of his personal journey over the past nine (or eighteen, or forty-eight) years, where he has finally become the sort of person who will handle this situation in this specific way. (draw a parallel with reaching the penultimate/"depression" stage of grief, where it falls in the episode.) in a different context, it might be something to celebrate. on the positive side, he is no longer the angry person he was 18 years ago! he no longer lashes out! he has learned compassion and is willing to take responsibility for his own mistakes! and to look at it through a darker lens: joe has finally finished manipulating him into the perfect victim! narratively this scene is the end of the road for chas, there's nowhere else he has left to go except his finale

when he finds out mick is a woman, he says: "i've never been so happy." :) that's how you know the end is nigh of course. the betrayal isn't brutal enough unless it comes at the exact moment of maximum contentment, trust, and love. essentially the whole mick ordeal is there to test his trust in joe, to make sure it's finally 1000% solid and ready to be exploded

– by that i mean the script put it there to test him as a narrative device, but i suspect it was also an in-universe test/game. you're telling me joe has maintained this elaborate deception for years, and now suddenly he's leaving his phone lying around? he was doing it on purpose, to set chas up for the "worry -> relief & Peak Happiness -> ultimate betrayal" pipeline. absolute mad lad. someone capable of that has got to be INCREDIBLE in bed. makes you wonder what other little games he set up to torment chas over the years

while  eliza  herself  possesses  no  cyberware  +  is  thus  unable  to  record  braindances  herself,  there  is  a  large  market  for  BD’s  and  virtus  re:  the  love  bot.

during  eliza’s  first  promotional  tour,  universal  records  created  and  touted  ‘a  day  in  the  life  of  love  bot’  -  a  heavily  edited  BD  recorded  by  a  plant  made  to  look  like  eliza’s  closest  confidante  and  ‘bff’.  the  BD  takes  place  from  this  person’s  POV  over  the  course  of  a  day  alongside  eliza  -  bringing  them  to  costume  fittings,  paparazzi  stints,  as  well  as  an  entire  backstage  /  onstage  concert  experience,  constantly  in  direct  communication  with  eliza.  ‘the  true  VIP  experience’  is  something  that  her  team  has  replicated  many  times  during  different  eras  /  albums  /  tours  (adding  to  the  reality  that  eliza  /  the  love  bot  is  nothing  more  than  a  commodification  of  a  human  being).

re:  ‘the  true  VIP  experience’  -  though  it  isn’t  publicly  spoken  of,  the  intent  of  focusing  on  what  it’s  like  to  be  alongside  eliza  rather  than  feeling  her  emotions  +  physicality  covered  the  tracks  of  those  (her  team)  who  pushed  eliza  further  and  further  into  addiction.  a  BD  where  she’s  supposed  to  be  the  perfect  popstar  and  feels  strung  out  /  high  /  panicked  wouldn’t  have  been  what  universal  records  wanted  to  share  with  the  world  (i.e.,  they  want  the  image  of  the  love  bot  portrayed  a  certain  way  -  not  the  reality  of  the  person  behind  it  all).

Most importantly in this specific scenario, though, Timothy was left with the very real, very valid curiosity: Do I just attract people like this?

He meant the reckless sort. The devil-may-care sort. The impulsive. The guys who got an entire high off of the risks . . . and always found a way to drag Timmy into it— And yeah, y’know . . . ? Sometimes the totally verifiably nuts. (Do we need to name names here? Was that clear— Well, just in case: Jack. We’re talking about Handsome Jack.) Cole, okay, was nowhere near the “nuts” side of the spectrum, but he pretty much lined up with everything else.

And yet here Timothy was. He’d agreed to come with him. Cole had to be real cute about reminding him he’d still be here despite knowing all the details.

So: full circle, kiddos:

“Yeah, I mean— 50-50 sounds . . . great, but—” Speaking of whipped, it also wasn’t like Timothy didn’t compliantly take the fuse as it was handed to him: following instructions was (no surprise!) second-nature to him at this point. “Are you, like, intentionally trying to get every psycho and their equally psychotic mother to notice us? Is that part of the plan, or . . . ?” And as if the mere mention of attention would’ve already garnered it—knowing his luck—he glanced back down that alley leading out to one of Lectra City’s main roads. Deceptively quiet. Which also just made him squirm.

“Really, really looking forward to spending my 50 from the prime real estate of a pike firmly up my ass. Can’t wait.”
